Clinical Educator, Gift of Life Michigan

My name is Liz Peady, and I am a Clinical Educator. So I work for a company called Gift of Life Michigan. We're located in Ann Arbor, Michigan and we facilitate organ and tissue donation across the entire state of Michigan. So as a Clinical Educator my job is to train new Clinical team members on the processes and procedures of organ donation. I'm also responsible for maintaining continuing education for our established team members. So my bigger responsibilities because I am the Clinical Educator I create new policies and procedures for the folks that are out in the field actually doing like the boots on the ground type work. So I actually completely revamped the entire orientation process. So it probably all in all was over 200 hours worth of work. I created a lot of digital self-learning training modules as well as in-person hands on training modules. So first I start with just creating like a process map or process layout. So if I'm training somebody, say to how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, what are the very basic steps in making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich? And then for each step I dive into what that step truly entails. So of course, with my work, it's a lot more complex than making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. So I have to do a lot of research to build my trainings. Once I have collected my research I start to lay it out in a way that makes sense and then and then work towards my final product. So once I have that final product I usually will do sort of like a trial basis training with with somebody who has not gone through that training before. I get their realtime feedback on how they felt it went. I take notes throughout the training so that I can make changes if needed for the future. So as a Clinical Educator, I am a Monday through Friday eight 30 to five type role. But as I mentioned, I do travel around the state of Michigan to make sure I'm reaching all of our team members that are spread throughout.
